Porter’s Senior Session | Rexhame Beach, Marshfield

I have done a whole bunch of sessions at Rexhame Beach. I love it there for so many reasons. The evening of Porter’s session, I noticed a fog ocean side as I was a few miles away. I was thinking to myself,  that could be a pretty cool element for her images. When I rolled down the street toward the parking lot, my thoughts were a bit more like, oh. my. god. I have never seen fog this thick in my life. And I have never photographed in it either! The visibility was 150 feet at best. The entire parking lot was just covered in the thickest blanket of it when I pulled in. We still had an hour until sunset but it was definitely a really suppressed light to say the least. I noticed other photographers and their subjects coming back to the lot, packing it up and leaving. The place emptied out like when Italians lose a soccer match. No one wants to be there for any reason whatsoever. We had the entire place pretty much to ourselves and anyone we did see were definitely headed outbound.

I had not met Porter and her mom, Janese, yet so I wasn’t sure what to expect with this turn of events and pretty much no room on both our parts to reschedule.

Janese emerged from the car with a friendly smile and a questioning expression. Porter was the same. Both, all smiles and wondering what the plan was. I thought it was just amazing and said, “Let’s just go for it. I’m pretty sure we can make this work with the gear I have. This will be fun!”

So off we went and the results are like no other beach session I have ever had and most likely will never get again again. Just magical. I mean, most of these look like I dropped in a background. As I showed them some LCD peeks, they were really excited. By the time we reached the ocean side, the light was pretty much gone. Meaning, it was dark out, lol! But ̛ knew what I wanted to do and how to do it. SO dark in fact that Janese had to hold her cell phone flashlight for me to help me focus! She was a great assistant! Porter was a fantastic giggle model!

Thanks ladies for playing in the fog with me! I had so much fun! Congrats Porter!
